S.A.I.L. Summer Camp July 2018

The Szczecin Academy of International Learning summer camp 2018 will take place in early July.
All children aged 9-14 are welcome to sign up and join us on an action-packed and fun week of adventures in the beautiful surroundings of the Drawsko National Wildlife Park.

The summer camp is planned to last for 7 days (6 nights) from the 9th to the 14th of July, including the day of arrival and departure.

The camp is a wonderful opportunity for children to have fun in the sun, take part in a bunch of sport and re-creative activities as well as get hands-on experience of the big outdoors and explore the beauty of the landscape, wildlife and flora in the area.

The summer camp is available to all children between the age of 9 to 14 and is a great opportunity for children from multinational backgrounds to integrate, cooperate and make new friends.

We also highly recommend the summer camp as an effective way for children to improve their language skills in speaking English and gain confidence in using English as a language of instruction.

Kusy Dwór Holiday park

Located on the outskirts of Czaplinek, in the heart of the Drawsko National Park, the Kusy Dwór holiday park is a safe, secure and full of attractions holiday centre with a large life-guarded beach and direct access to the Class A water of lake Drawsko.

The campus is specially designed to accommodate children and as a fully certified holiday park is known for its tradition of professionalism, being a 3 time winner of best holiday park in the Drawsko district.

Accommodation

All children attending the summer camp will be housed in one of the modern and comfortable Villas centred in the middle of the park.

Each Villa can house up to 43 people and the 3 person rooms are of very good standard, all equipped with an en suit bathroom and balcony.

Age Range 9-13

The summer camp is a great opportunity for children of different cultures to integrate, make friends, improve their English, cooperate, coordinate, enjoy the natural outdoors, experience educational field trips and take part in a range of challenging and inspirational activities.

We highly recommend our summer camp to all children between the ages of 9 and 13 and welcome all new comers to join in on our adventure. 

The age range for this year's Summer camp has been specified according to the kind of activities we have organised for the children.

If your child is too young for our summer camp we will be organising a summer school for younger pupils in late summer as part of our introductory integration week for new pupils.

Day Trips

During the summer camp the children will have the opportunity to go on short day trips. Some of this year's day trips include:

• Hiking to the top of the tallest hill in the Drawsko National Park
• Canoeing on the river Piława
• A trip around the town of Czaplinek - Orientation in terrain exercise (using a compass)
• A trip to Żelisławski Zapiecek - small ancient village - making pottery and traditional foods
• A trip to a local ghost town
• A trip to the surrounding woodland - Bush-craft skills
  

Location

The Kusy Dwór Holiday Park is located on the quiet outskirts of the town Czaplinek. 130 Km from Szczecin, Czaplinek is a small town in the heart of the Drawsko National Park. Charming and full of history, Czaplinek is positioned right next to the big ancient lake Drawsko, famous for its crystal clear water and natural beauty.

The Holiday Park has many on site attractions, providing a wide choice of activities for throughout the day.

Transport

Transport to and from the summer camp location is included in the price and all transport arrangements are organised by the school.

Children and staff will be travelling to Czaplinek by train departing from the main Train Station in Szczecin. The journey is expected to take no more than 2 hours.

From there we will be transported to the Kusy Dwór Holiday Park by minibus which is just 3 minute drive from the Czaplinek train station.

Food & Refreshments

The Kusy Dwór Holiday Park has a large canteen where food is served throughout the day.  A rich menu with plenty of variety will be provided in four meals a day:

• breakfast
• lunch
  
• dinner
  
• supper
  

The canteen will also provide take away packages when children are going on planned field trips so they always have something with them to replenish their energy when needed.

Opportunities to do some shopping in a local shop will also be made available to the children who have received prior consent from their parents to do so.

All meals provided on campus are included within the price of the summer camp. 

Guides and Supervisors

Four supervisors will be accompanying the children throughout the duration of the summer camp. These will include teachers from the school and members of our staff. 

In addition, trained and qualified instructors will be provided on site while children take part in organised activities such as:

• canoeing
• paintball
• climbing the wall
  
• survival training
  

Safety & Insurance

The Kusy Dwór Holiday Park is a professional holiday centre certified and specialising in providing recreation for children, applying to all 2017 health and safety standards. 

The facility is an enclosed area with restricted access from outsiders and 24 hour security surveillance.

During the day the beach is monitored by lifeguards and the water is marked with buoys, showing water depth to ensure children don't venture out too deep.

Children will have time in the evening and night to themselves to rest and enjoy privacy in their allocated rooms.  At all other times children will always be under the supervision of at least one of the teachers. 

NW travel and life insurance policies for each child attending the summer camp will be provided by the school and included in the price.
